BMW M4 coupe safety car unveiled for 2014 DTM season
BMW Motorsport are going to take 9, and not 8 M4 DTM race cars to the 2014 DTM season. This will include a new lead car based on the production model of M4 besides the M4 coupe DTM safety car which will take the lead in steering 23 DTM racing cars across the circuit.
BMW M4 Coupe will debut as a safety car at the Nurburgring on 17th August 2014. This car is capable of fuel consumption of 8.8 liters per 100 km with combined CO2 emissions of 204/194 g/km. Combining motorsports tactics with excellent road capabilities, the M4 Coupe receives a 431 hp six cylinder inline engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and high revolution facilities capable of peak torque of 550 Nm and acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds. Top speed of the BMW M4 Coupe is electronically limited to 250 kmph or 280 kmph with the presence of M Driver’s Package.
Fitted with a host of upgrades for the M4 Coupe to play its part, the M4 underwent a two month conversion process being fitted with exterior components from M Performance Parts catalogue along with quad tipped exhaust, front splitter, rear spoiler and diffuser besides blacked out grille and special mirror caps.
Interiors have also been refurbished to include a pair of Recaro racing bucket seats with Schroth harnesses, LED emergency lighting and radio communication system, thus allowing it to stand out as the official safety car speeding across the Nurburgring circuit.
