In one of their largest recalls ever made, BMW has recalled over 235,000 Mini variants globally over a faulty water pump. Mini cars that are affected due to this faulty water pump were manufactured between 2006 and 2011.
BMW spokesperson stated that they will soon be contacting affected Mini owners and notify them about the issue. As of today, not a single injury or accident has been reported due to the faulty water pump installed in Mini.
The faulty electric water pump whose main job is to keep the turbocharger cool, can malfunction and because of which the entire electronic circuit connected to it will overheat and might conk off. In order to solve this problem, all affected Mini's will need to get this faulty water pump replaced.
BMW also added that fixing this problem should not consume more than an hour's time once the Mini car is taken to an authorized dealer by the owner. In UK alone approximately 30,000 Mini variants are affected due to this problem.
