BMW X3 facelift launched in Malaysia, India launch in two weeks

Just like earlier variants, Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units of new BMW X3 facelift will be locally assembled in Kulim facility in Kedah state of Malaysia. Facelift version of X3 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) was announced for Malaysian market in Febbruary 2014.

New X3 SUV bears a bit more combative front fascia, with brushed up front grille (as seen in BMW X5 facelift), tweaked headlamps and modified bumper. Rear bumpers are also slightly redesigned. Door wing mirrors get new turn indicators, other than that, shadow new X3 facelift remains same as earlier version.

xDrive20i houses same 2.0 litre four cylinder turbocharged direct injection engine producing 184 hp max. power at 5000 rpm and 270 Nm peak torque at 1250 – 4500 rpm. Top speed is same 210 kmph, but 0-100 kmph sprint time is quoted 0.4 seconds faster than predecessor, at 8.2 seconds. Mileage is improved at 7.2 litres per 100 km from 7.5 litres.

xDrive20d LCI is powered by new 2.0 litre diesel engine from B48/B47 family, that generates 190 hp at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm at 1750 – 2500 rpm. An increase of 6 horsepower and 20 Nm can be noted when compared to the motor seen in earlier X3 diesel. xDrive20d is capable of sprinting 0-100 kmph in 8.1 seconds, also 0.4 seconds faster. Claimed fuel efficiency of X3 facelift diesel is 5.2 litres per 100 km; previous version needed 5.6 litres. Both engines are coupled to eight-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic, as in earlier X3.

Price of new BMW X3 xDrive20i is RM328,800 (Rs. 63.47 lakhs approx.) and xDrive20d variant is RM348,800 (Rs. 67.33 lakhs approx.), both on-road, with BS+RI (BMW Service + Repair Inclusive) and without insurance.
