CAESAR MGS on Ashok Leyland chassis for Indian army
Ashok Leyland, Nexter Systems, Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) Defence Systems have signed a consortium agreement. The alliance will collaborate and work Indian Army’s Mounted Gun System (MGS) artillery programme.
MGS programme’s proposed artillery system sees the consortium led by L&T in a role as prime contractor. The outcome will be a version of CAESAR artillery system fitted onto a 6×6 Super Stallion chassis from Ashok Leyland.
Unveiled at DEFEXPO show in New Delhi in February 2014, Indian version CAESAR is on display at Nexter stand at Eurosatory 2014. Ashok Leyland, Nexter Systems, and L&T’s partnership is based on delivering best solution and value to the Indian Army. Systems customisation to match Indian requirements and specifics will be be a joint effort.
Nexter and L&T are also coming together for the Indian ministry of defence’ Towed Gun System programme. TRAJAN has been proposed and is under review and evaluation.
