Tata Motors and Mahindra car sales report for May 2015

Tata Motors car sales report for May 2015 reveals that the company has posted a growth of 21%; as they registered sales of 11,138 units, as against 9,230 units in the same month last year. Though the company did not reveal car-wise sales figures, they have said that the growth is due to their newly launched Zest and Bolt.

May 2015 saw Tata Motors launching the new Nano GenX.

Considering that the month of April 2015 saw Bolt and Zest registered their lowest monthly sales, they seem to have bounced back in sales charts. This could also have been because of the discount offers introduced by the company last month.

Total sales of Tata Motors for the month of May 2015 stood at 39,496, including exports. This is an increase of 5% compared to May 2014 sales. In domestic market, the company sold 34,818 units, a slight increase from 34,334 units sold in same month last year.

Commercial vehicle sales of the company declined by 6% to 23,680 units, mainly due to the decline in sales of Light & Small CV sales. On the other hand Medium and Heavy CV Sales increased by 17% to 10,788 units. Exports posted a good increase of 47% – 4,678 units as compared to 3,191 units exported in May 2014.

Mahindra launched XUV500 facelift in May 2015.

Speaking about Mahindra car sales report for May 2015, the company registered a decline of 7% (18,135 units) in the domestic market for passenger vehicles. Mahindra commercial vehicles too posted a decline in sales of 7% (11,407 units). Overall domestic sales for May 2015 stood at 33,369 units, as against 35,499 units registered in the same month last year. Exports increased to 3,337 units from 2,370 units.

Speaking on auto sales performance, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra said, “The auto industry has been showing signs of recovery and it is important that factors like an interest rate cut if considered, would accelerate growth. At Mahindra we hope to see improved sentiments with higher level of economic activities and the launch of our New Age XUV500 which has received a good initial response. We are also happy with a 41% growth in our exports during the last month”.
