Castrol and AUTOSPORT will be releasing regular updates of EDGE USA Drivers Rankings. This is one of the most authentic ranking system in global motorsport which takes into account every achievement of racing car drivers besides their moves, laps, performance and lead on the overall event before declaring rankings.

These rankings also give an account of individual driver’s analysis and move by move account while highlighting strengths and overall standing in comparison to other racers. These ratings will give an in-depth analysis of driver’s performance, scores attained and ranking while giving point total for every driver forming the rankings. Pennsylvania 400 was conducted during the last weekend.

Castrol EDGE USA Driver Rankings were declared with top five drivers being Will Power- IndyCar, Jimmie Johnson- Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Carl Edwards- Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Tony Stewart- Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Scott Dixon- IndyCar, GrandAm. Sports enthusiasts will also have something to look forward to this coming weekend when NASCAR Sprint Car Series are being held at The Glen after which Castrol EDGE USA Driver Rankings will give us detailed results.

Recap of the Pocono 400 and Castrol Driver Rankings

As the Auto Racing season continues, I’d like to pass along some information that might be of interest. As you may know, Castrol has teamed up with AUTOSPORT to release the first official Castrol EDGE USA Driver Rankings. The Castrol EDGE USA Driver Rankings derives from the global rankings, which is the first and only genuinely authoritative seeding system for global motorsport (updated on a weekly basis).

These rankings look beyond race wins. They take into account every measurable achievement, including overtaking moves, fastest laps, qualifying performances and laps led. We also offer individual driver analyses, which explain each move made by your favorite drivers — breaking down their strengths, weaknesses and overall standing compared to other competitive racers.

Each driver is given a score based upon their performance and the relative weighting of their series, as determined by our experts. Each driver’s score is multiplied by the series’ weighting, then adjusted to a theoretical 20-round series. The result is a points total for every driver, forming the Rankings.

The Pennsylvania 400 took place this past weekend, and although Jimme Johnson made a few errors during the race and ultimately gave the victory to teammate Jeff Gordon, he managed to hold on to the number two spot in the Castrol EDGE USA Driver Rankings. Meanwhile, with this win, Jeff Gordon advanced one spot to 18.

The top 5 drivers are below:

1 Will Power- IndyCar
2 Jimme Johnson- Sprint Cup, Nationwide
3 Carl Edwards- Sprint Cup, Nationwide
4 Tony Stewart- Sprint Cup, Nationwide
5 Scott Dixon- IndyCar, GrandAm

This upcoming Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be held at The Glen. Keep watching the Castrol EDGE USA Driver Rankings to see if Jimme Johnson will hold on to his #2 spot, if Carl Edwards will close the gap of 15 points between him and Johnson, or if another race will go Gordon’s way causing him to climb even further.
