Ceat Pune Invitational Supercross League 2014 announced

Ceat Pune Invitational Supercross League 2014 championship will be held on a franchisee based model, with 8 teams vying for top spot. Participation of international riders aims to change the face of the sport. 40 national riders and 8 international riders make up the selection pool with an auction scheduled on 2nd November, 2014 in Pune.

Confirmed teams for this year are SKP High Rollers, San Racing, Aranha Racing, Team Amanora Park Town, BU Bhandari Motorsports, and Bhalla Royale. All team owners are from Pune. Local hero Vishal Barguje, Harith Noah from TVS Racing, Pramod Joshua, V.S Naresh, R Natraj, and Madhu are some of the Indian riders who will participate.

Pune Invitational Supercross 2014 will see international riders participate in the Final Leg at Pune. The championship will be held in 3 rounds, where team riders will score points based on performance at each round. Total points tally will decide the winner giving the overall championship a competitive edge.

1st round of Ceat Pune Invitational Supercross League 2014 championship will be held in Nashik at Kute Supercross Track on November 8-9th 2014, 2nd round at Kolhapur at Mohite Racing Academy on November 15-16th 2014, and final round in Pune on December 12-14th. Pune will host pre event activities with an exhibit area, interactive Pits, Press and Media Day, and opening ceremony with a demo Freestyle Motocross Show.

Eeshan Lokhande, Event Director & Partner, Vilo Events says Supercross is gaining in popularity in India, and support and facilities for riders are coming up at various locations. It’s time to move to a better platform for racing through professional tracks, facilities, adequate branding for sponsors and respect to the rider. It is aimed to get Supercross and Motocross recognised in mainstream Indian Sports culture.

Shivam Dave, CEO, Vilo Events spoke of a sold out event last year, leading to increased participation and growing involvement and support from Corporate houses. He thanked Ceat for coming on board as title sponsor, and is confident this year’s event will set a new benchmark, and revolutionise the sport in India.

Shashank Golani, Senior Brand Manager, of Ceat India believes competition participants are evolved riders and understand the motorcycle riding and the need for a dependable set of tyres. Tyres used in Supercross events deliver superior grip and extreme robustness. Supercross alllows Ceat’s R&D team to understand tyre quality used in Supercross and carry forward such qualities in mass segment products. This is the 2nd year Ceat has taken on title sponsor duties.
