The Adra from Chevrolet, when launched, can be powered by the same 1.3 liter diesel engine that powers Sail and Enjoy and capable of peak power of 77 hp. This sub four meter SUV is named Adra and pronounced Adh-ra while it means ‘rock’ in Sanskrit. Displaying a rock like tenacity, the new Adra is designed by Indians and developed indigenously at the General Motors Technical Center in India.
Built on the Gamma 2 platform, Chevrolet Adra will be sold in many developing countries while Brazil and India will be its major markets. Once successfully launched, the new Chevrolet Adra will compete against Ford EcoSport, Mahindra sub-Scorpio SUV, or also with the likes of Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and upcoming crossovers from Maruti, Hyundai and Honda.
Chevrolet Adra which makes it world premiere tomorrow at the 2014 Auto Expo will be seen at the Chevrolet pavilion rubbing shoulders with a face lifted Beat, a seven seater Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV, the new Corvette C7 Stingray and the Chevrolet Camaro.
