Chevrolet Beat highest selling GM India car in December 2013
General Motors India sales for December 2013 stand at 5705 vehicles as against 7067 cars sold in Dec 2012. This equates to 19.27% sales decline. Sales per vehicles is as follows: 2073 units of Beat, 1282 units of Sail, and 1,088 units of Chevrolet Enjoy.
2014 will see General Motors launch the model year Chevrolet Beat (Spark). With cosmetic changes galore, buyers can look forward to a new rear hatch spoiler, grille, fog lamps, and alloy wheels among other things.
Commenting on the December sales, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India said, “The past year has been extremely challenging for the automobile sector as the general economic and consumer sentiments had failed to pick up. Despite providing highest level of discounts during December, footfall in showrooms failed to pick-up. The outlook for the industry remains grim in the short-term as the dampeners like slow economic growth, high inflation and fuel costs continue to pose challenges and the overall economic scenario continues to be uncertain.”
“Unless the government offers a stimulus package to the struggling automobile industry, the market is unlikely to see any upturn before a new government assumes office after elections this year,” he added.
