What is it?
I just drove it and I am dying to own one. The ride was simple like any other car in the 1.2 liter engine segment but when it came to take a turn, this car was simply awesome, you would feel a difference. The turning radius happens to be as short as 4.6 meters. The beat is available in 3 variants PS, LS & LT.
Outer impression:
The car has got simply great curves. The latest grille design from Chevrolet adds WoW effect to the Beat. The Beat is small in length to only 3.7 meters & stands on 12" tires. In short, it looks like a toy car. The head lamps are large & flow with the aerodynamics of the bonnet. The tail lamps are also elegant but reminds of the second generation Santro Zip drive.
Ambience and theme:
The beat's cluster design is a new step towards the Gen next designs. The cluster is designed in such a way that we have seen something like this only in concept cars. However the cluster is two tone in colour (Black & Silver) only in top end model only & the black cluster may remind you of the Chinese video brick games. The seats are comfortable but if you are 6 feet & above you will definitely complain for the leg room.
On the road:
The Beat is loaded with 1.2 litre engine married to 5 speed transmission. The engine produces 80.5PS of maximum power with 108Nm of maximum torque and delivers excellent engine performance. The car is stable even at 100km / hr. The front wheel driven car has front disc & rear drum brakes. The claimed mileage of the Beat is 18.5 kmpl which is quite awesome for 1.2 litre petrol engine.
What's it up against?
Hyundai Santro Xing, Hyundai i10, Tata Indica Vista.
Why would you buy it?
A fresh new look, the Chevrolet built quality, attractive headlamps, although the car is small in length there is no compromise with safety, other than ABS the car has 2.5 mph impact proof bumpers. The attractive juicy colors will definitely make you feel like owning one.
Why you wouldn't buy it?
Leg room, boot space.
