Chevrolet India Sail sedan launch, features, techspecs and images
Chevrolet Sail sedan was launched in India earlier today for an introductory starting price of INR 4.99 lakhs for the petrol version and INR 6.29 lakhs for the diesel version. This new B segment sedan is showcased here in 68 images.
Speaking about the Sail diesel sedan, it too comes in four variants and in a price range of INR 6.29 lakhs to INR 7.51 lakhs. Powered by a 1.3L SMARTECH mill, Chevrolet Sail diesel delivers 78 PS power and 205 Nm torque. It delivers a mileage of 22.1 kmpl, which is amongst the best in its segment. This engine is developed by GM diesel engine technical center in Turin Italy. Both, petrol and diesel engines inside the new Sail sedan, features lightweight aluminum alloy,Â DOHC valvetrain for better mileage, anti friction properties, graphite coated skirts, and lightweight pistons.
On the inside, Chevrolet Sail offers ample headroom, comfortable seating for 5 adults, Corvette-inspired dual cockpit design, best legroom in the segment, smart storage spaces, entertainment system with Bluetooth for pairing upto five phones to stream audio. Drivability of the Sail sedan too has been tuned for Indian roads and driving conditions. For safety, Chevrolet Sail has 14″ tires, ABS with EBD, three point structure that disperses 80% of impact, and airbags.
New Chevrolet Sail is a global sedan. It has been launched in India after thorough testing on various terrains across the globe. Chevrolet India says, the Sail has been tested in the desert heat as well as in the cold and icy conditions of Europe. Chevrolet test drove the Sail for 6.3 million kms (63 lakhs kms), before it was launched. Chevrolet believes in their new car, because of which Sail will be offered with a 3-5-3 advantage, a first in Indian auto industry. 3 years / 100,000 kms standard warranty, 5 years / 150,000 kms engine and transmission warranty, Chevrolet Promise for 45,000 kms / 3 years.
Chevrolet Sail sedan is the second car launched by GM India in as many months for the Indian auto industry. They previously launched the Sail U-VA hatchback in Nov 2012 with a starting price of Rs 4.44 lakhs. Very soon they will be launching their next car, Enjoy MPV. All three cars, Sail U-VA, Sail sedan and Enjoy are being launched after a lot of market research. This is the segment of the Indian auto industry which is experiencing an exponential growth along with huge sales numbers.Â The new launched Sail sedan, will now compete in the B segment sedan of the Indian car market. This segment experiences 40,000 units monthly sales, contributes 23% of the total sales in the car industry and is also growing at a phenomenal rate of 41% for the last three years.
