Chevrolet India moves ahead of Tata Motors and Mahindra in Kerala auto market
In August it was reported Chevrolet is the 4th largest brand in Kerala, moving up from 6th place from the year earlier. The automaker’s market share stands at 5.6% YTD in the state, which makes Kerala a well performing state for Chevrolet India, as well as, their dealers.
Total sales during the month included 2,826 units of Beat, 1,893 units of Sail and 1,543 units of Enjoy. This dismal picture was due to prevalent depression in markets following fragile economic conditions, negative market sentiments and a host of other factors which all contributed to falling sales by most automakers in the country.
The company was however optimistic of sales of Beat hatchback while they have temporarily brought production operations of Tavera to a halt. However, the upcoming festive season holds some promise for the company during which time they expect to see increased sales.
GMIPL operates from its vehicle manufacturing plants in Halol, Gujarat and Talegaon Dabhade in Maharashtra. These two production plants have a combined production capacity of 385,000 units annually.
