It is now revealed that GM India has clocked over 1,000 bookings for the new Sail sedan. Out of these, 836 units of Sail sedan were booked even before the official launch on 1st Feb 2013, reports Team-BHP. Of these 836 units of Sail sedan booked prior to launch, demand for diesel Sail was more than three times to that of petrol Sail as GM India received 638 bookings for diesel and 198 for petrol.
Sail sedan was launched with a starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs. 6.29 lakhs for the diesel variant. Customers will have an option to choose between four petrol and diesel variants when buying this sedan.
The B segment Sail sedan is powered by a 1.2L SMARTECH petrol engine and a 1.3L SMARTECH mill diesel engine. These engines have been designed especially for Indian markets and have undergone rigorous testing and trials. Its petrol engine is capable of producing 86 PS power and 113 Nm torque while its diesel counter part delivers a power output of 78 PS and 205 Nm of torque. Fuel ratings for petrol and diesel engine variants are 18.2 kmpl and 22.1 kmpl respectively. These engines feature lightweight aluminum components that help reduce friction and improve fuel efficiency.
Interior features include a Corvette inspired dual cockpit design, spacious legroom and comfortable seating for 5 grown ups as also smart storage spaces. Entertainment system inside this sedan boasts of a Bluetooth system capable of connecting up to 5 devices simultaneously. Chevrolet Sail sedan rides on 14” tyres and is equipped with safety features like airbags, EBS with EBD and a structured design to reduce impact damage by 80%. The Sail Sedan has proved its mettle on varied terrains and vast climatic conditions making it suitable for global use.
