India bound Chevrolet Sail sedan ready for 2013 Detroit Auto Show
General Motors has confirmed that they will be revealing their global sedan, Chevrolet Sail at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show next week. In India, Chevrolet Sail is expected to be launched on 1st Feb 2013.
The Sail sedan will see the use of the same set of engines currently in use on its hatchback variant, Sail U-VA, which has not really been doing all that well in India. The company sold just 1,173 units of Sail U-VA in December 2012, way below expectations. GM India now hopes that the sedan will have a better reception.
The Sail sedan will be powered by a 1.3 liter XSDE diesel engine producing 78 PS power at 4000 rpm and 205 Nm torque at 1750 rpm mated to a five speed F17 manual gearbox. Its 1.2 liter Smartech petrol engine will offer 86 PS at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm torque at 5000 rpm. Sail’s interiors will sport a dual cockpit with Horizon View dashboard. Its cabin will offer additional leg room while the vehicle will come with an exceptional entertainment system with Bluetooth facility that supports 5 phone parings and audio streaming. Chevrolet Sail is currently available in China.
