Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Corvette and Camaro: Auto Expo
General Motors India pavilion at 2014 Auto Expo was the cynosure of all attention and admiration as the new Corvette Stingray, Camaro ZL1 and Chevrolet Trailblazer AT variant were on display.
Seventh generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray comes with various styling updates over its predecessor and gets a bolder and more aggressive stance with a longer bonnet, wider rear profile and sporty roofline. Sculpted with extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum, means weight reduction. Interiors are also well appointed while engine updates include a 6.2 liter V8 engine producing 455 hp peak power and 610 Nm torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is accomplished in 4 seconds while the engine is mated to a 7 speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Matching technology.
Powering the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, is a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine offering peak power of 580 hp at 6000 rpm and 753 Nm torque at 4200 rpm. Power is sent to its rear wheels via a 6 speed manual transmission which allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 296 kmph.
Chevrolet TrailBlazer AT Variant, a full sized SUV, and is seen with both petrol and diesel engine options and if launched in India would compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe. Chevrolet TrailBlazer AT Variant is manufactured in General Motors’ plants in Thailand and Brazil and if it makes it to India, will come via the CBU route.
It is powered by a 2.5-litre Duramax diesel unit offering 150 bhp power and 350 Nm torque. It also gets a 2.8-litre Duramax diesel engine offering 180 bhp power and 470 Nm torque along with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine exclusively for Brazilian market which is capable of producing 239 bhp power and360 Nm torque. 4×2 gets AT variant while and 4×4 are available with both manual and automatic transmission. Quality, style, performance and convenience and safety features abound on board the new Trailblazer.
