Tata Bolt spied next to Indica, lets compare
Tata Bolt hatchback is spied again on test next to Indica. Showcased in 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, Bolt will succeed Tata Vista and compete with Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and such. Launch is expected in 2014 September, ahead of Diwali festive season.
New Bolt hatchback is based on X1 platform, completely revised form of Vista’s. Improved build quality, packaging and material grade are expected of Tata to conquer the hot hatch segment. Unlike the case of older small cars from Tata, Bolt will be feature rich with touch screen infotainment system by Harman, navigation facility, smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth & USB, voice recognition and more.
Compared to Indica, Bolt is superior in almost all aspects. Indica CR4 houses a common rail BS4 1.4 litre diesel engine with DOHC, producing max. power of 70 PS @ 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1,800-3,000 rpm. Indica V2 comes with 1.4 litre NA BS3 engine with 16 Valves and DOHC. This low end engine generates 48.9 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 85 Nm @ 2,500 rpm.
Tata Bolt will take over Fiat’s 1.3 litre Multijet engine from Vista, that pushes out 75 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. Petrol variant will get new 1.2 litre turbocharged Revotron engine with max. power output of 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. Bolt with feature 5 speed manual transmission on both petrol and diesel variants, but given the fact that Zest sedan is coming with 5 speed AMT coupled to diesel engine, Bolt diesel can be expected to equip AMT.
