Volkswagen CrossPolo spied in India on the heels of EcoSport launch

Successor to Polo Fun, a mini SUV styled hatchback, CrossPolo was first shown by Volkswagen in 2010. Available in both petrol and diesel engine options, this car was recently spied while on road test in India. We have already compared the size of EcoSport with Polo, and the difference won’t be much when you realize that the CrossPolo has an increased ride-height.

Volkswagen CrossPolo begins road test in India

CrossPolo was introduced as a mini SUV hatchback, with capabilities of being an off roader and it is for this reason that ride height has been increased 15 mm. Apart from this, from the image here (credit to AutoCar India) you can see, it possesses a thick matte plastic band across its chin, flanks and extending to its rear. Wheel arches have also been fitted with this band while a scuff plate is finished in dull silver. The vehicle sports silver anodized roof rails capable of withstanding luggage upto 75 kgs even as the CrossPolo sits on 17” wheels. CrossPolo  for Indian market, could sport a tail-gate mounted spare wheel, which adds a little bit of muscle to the car, apart from giving a mini SUV feel.

Ford India is close on the heels of launching their most anticipated car, EcoSport. The launch of EcoSport (review) is near, and is expected to take place in the coming month. Seeing the buzz around EcoSport, which is a little taller than the VW Polo currently on offer in India, do you think VW India is planning a competitor in the form of CrossBlue?
