Dacia Lodgy coming to India under Renault in 2015
First unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Dacia Lodgy is a low-cost MPV already on sale in Europe. 2015 will see Renault start the production of the same Lodgy MPV at their facility in India. Once launched, Lodgy will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio in the Indian auto industry.
Renault Lodgy, based on the modified Duster platform will be a front wheel drive, 7 seater MPV, and measuring 4500 mm in length and 1750 mm in width. It will be powered by a 1.5 liter K9K turbo diesel engine producing 85 bhp peak power and mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Lodgy may also be offered with a 105 bhp version of the same engine, though at a later stage.
Lodgy is designed to offer low turning radius which will be one of its major attributes, especially where tackling Indian road conditions are concerned. It will also receive a reworked cabin with a multitude of premium materials and added features to include rear air conditioning vents.
Interiors of Lodgy are spacious with a slew of storage spaces. The dashboard is distinct and functional while the Lodgy will share a host of other components with the Duster thereby helping Renault to minimize costs. Lodgy is expected to come in at a price between INR 8 lakhs and INR 10 lakhs, a price which is sure to make this practical MPV a major hit after the Renault Duster. (via)
