Fuso, a subsidiary of Daimler has posted an 18% global sales growth during the year 2012. The company sold 174,600 commercial vehicles during the past year. Elated at past year’s sales performance and a two digit growth rate in a challenging market environment, the company is going ahead with their FUSO 2015 growth strategy where they are targeting sales at 200,000 commercial vehicles per annum.
For 2013, the company is planning enhanced global presence specially in export markets of Southeast Asia. Outside Japan, the company sold 139,000 trucks and buses, recording sales increase of 15% with added benefits seen in markets of South East Asia, Middle East and Africa. Indonesia was also a strong market during the year and accounted for 68,000 trucks sold in the region.
Following their outstanding success in the past year, Fuso is on the brink of launching a number of new vehicles in 2013. The company recently introduced their Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid in European markets in September 2012 and the Fuso Canter Guts truck was launched in Japan in January 2013. Fuso is also planning to take the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid to Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Taiwan sometime during 2013.
