Daimler trucks is set to enter Indian truck market in 2012, Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland are in for some serious competition. The German automaker Daimler has a range of 12 trucks which they plan on bringing to India. The entire range of trucks which will be launched under the brand name Bharat Benz will be showcased at Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi in January 2012. Daimler trucks with capacity ranging from 6 tonnes to 49 tonnes will be launched in India during June to August 2012.
Daimler plans on launching their various trucks in India in stages. As of now, they plan on launching 1 new truck variant every month till the end of 2013, starting mid 2012. These trucks will be manufactured at the Daimler set up in Chennai. Price wise, Daimler trucks will all be priced at least 5 to 10% over Tata Motors.
Daimler India will offer tough and sturdy vehicles with good value for money. Daimler trucks will be available with so many models and attractive pricing, both India's truck manufacturers Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland are bound to feel the threat. As on date Tata Motors is the leader in Indian markets for heavy duty vehicles with a market share of 65% while Ashok Leyland has a 21% share and lastly Eicher Motors with a 10% market share.
