Superior quality, broad usage profile and low cost ownership are three factors which were taken under consideration when awarding a tender for delivery of 2,100 Mercedes trucks and vans to the Brazilian Government. With over 200, 000 vehicles being sold in this region, it is the fourth largest market for heavy and commercial trucks.

These trucks which will be delivered will be put to work in a number of areas ranging from defense to public health. There are about 1700 Atego trucks which will be deployed for work at the Ministry of defense where as over 400 Sprinter variants will be deployed for usage by the Ministry of health. These Sprinters’s will be used as ambulances when deployed for work.

Delivery of these models has already started and Mercedes Benz hopes to complete final delivery by 2013. Apart from Germany, Daimler AG operates its largest facility in São Bernardo do Campo. This plant is responsible for manufacture of superior chassis, transmissions and motors. It also looks after manufacture of trucks and buses in a single location.
