Datsun GO marks a brand return after a 32 year hiatus. The entry level small car is a key component of the Nissan Power 88 business plan, and GO is aimed to aid Nissan India increase market share within the next 5 years.

Datsun Go small car India (7)To be available at a price tag below Rs 4 lakh upon launch next year, the hatchback will share plenty with Nissan Micra.¬†While it won’t be presented as a premium hatch, the economy car will have plenty of customer demand features rather than be stripped off them.

A brief presentation today aimed at a young target audience. Codenamed ‘K2’, the five-door, FWD Datsun Go seats 5, and gets power from a 1.2 l engine. The 5-speed manual transmission is 1635 mm wide, 3785 mm long, and 1485 mm high.

Datsun Go small car India (4)The car unveiled today showed off dual tone beige seats, and a beige interior. A glovebox is nowhere to be seen. However, the front seats have ample space between them. The hidden storage would readily replace the glovebox. The little undefined area even has a back support but doesn’t add up to being a seat by itself as no seatbelt is provided for this space.

A hexagonal front grille and plenty of smart lines, and curves greet one at the exterior. Low cost of ownership will be key in ensuring a rapport with 1st time car buyers.

Datsun Go small car India (11)The sub 4 metre compact car is fitted with a mobile docking station ensuring hassle free infotainment choices via smartphones. The small car isn’t cramped for space considering the 2450 mm Micra wheelbase it sits on.
