Datsun Go India sales slow, Indonesia Panca launch near, 9k Go+ MPV’s sold

Datsun first showcased Go hatchback in India, a small car for five. Despite an initial strong sales, Datsun Go sales in India have not yet managed to reach its initial aim to sell 5k cars a month. Through March-June 2014, 7852 units of Datsun Go were sold in India. With an average of 2000+ units sold through the first three months, Datsun Go sales dipped to 1,097 units in June. July has been its weakest sales month, and the company has not divulged individual figures for the group here.

On 20 August 2014, Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) undertook its first soft launch activity that was attended by NMI board of directors. Datsun’s newest car for Risers in Indonesia follows the company’s Go+ Panca MPV (5+2) launch in May 2014, which is being manufactured at the Purwakarta, West Java. Datsun Go+ MPV is being offered in 5 variants in a single engine spec. With sales being positive in a country where MPV’s are in favour, Datsun Go+ MPV sales as on date stand at 9000 units with the T active variant doing better than others. Datsun Go+ MPV (petrol) is scheduled for launch in India next. Datsun began operations in Russia too this year, with it’s on-Do sedan in 3 trim levels – Access, Trust and Dream.

Datsun Go Panca hatchback launch is scheduled during the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2014 at an expected price just below Rp 100,000,000. NMI is geared up to launch the second of its LCGC model in 3 variants, Datsun Go Panca T Standard, Option T, and T Active. The new hatch’s dimensions stand at a length of 3,785 mm, width of 1,635 mm and height of 1,485 mm standing on a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.

Datsun Go Panca hatchback has a turning radius of 4.6 metres, and drives on 155/70 R13 tires. Ground clearance is marked at 170 mm. Power comes from a 1198 cc (1.2 litre) petrol three-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission for 68 PS. A McPherson Strut front suspension is in use.

Features across Panca variants include Halogen Head Lamp with Follow-Me-Home, Intelligent Wiping System, parking sensors, Mobile Docking Station, Roof Spoiler, Central Door Locking, and Keyless Entry With Alarm. There’s also a 1 Din integrated audio with Aux Jack, USB, and speaker. Further features include an aero kit, body side molding, and chrome trims. Colour choices include Jade, White Solid, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, and Black Solid. Body kits will also eb available for Go Panca. A special liveried hatch was shown at a mall recently.
