Scoop: Datsun Go+ MPV for India launch, no diesel, only petrol
Datsun Go+ MPV launched in Indonesia last month is expected to join the MPV battle here around 2014 Diwali season. With Maruti Ertiga selling like hot cakes and Honda Mobilio launch just around the corner, Datsun Go+ MPV is not to be reckoned a minor player in the ring.
In an interview with Mr. Kenichiro Yomura, President, Managing Director and CEO of Nissan India Operations, and Mr. Chikuya Takada, General Manager, Head of Product Planning, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., we got to know that Datsun Go+ MPV with be launched in petrol variant only. Engine will indubitably be shared from Datsun’s hatchback sibling.
In-line 3 cylinder 12 valve 1,198 cc petrol engine with DOHC and Electronic Gasoline Injection System is produces 68 PS max. power @ 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm peak torque @ 4,000 rpm. 5 speed manual transmission (cable type with hydraulic clutch operating system) is found in Datsun Go hatchback. Go+ MPV variants include D, A, Option A, T and Option T in Indonesia, where bookings have crossed 3,500 units.
Price of Datsun Go+ MPV is expected to be the lowest of competition, with base variant starting from about Rs 4.2 lakhs. In Indonesia, launch price of Go+ MPV is Rp 85 million (INR 4.42 lakh) for base variant and Rp 102.9 million (INR 5.36 lakh) for top spec; though all 5 variants come with same petrol engine.
AMT will not be featured in Datsun Go or Go+ MPV as Nissan believes with reason that CVT provides better fuel economy. Idea of Datsun Go+ MPV automatic with CVT may be a little farfetched.
