Datsun Go nears 5k sales mark, Nissan India 358% growth in April 2014

Mr. Kenichiro Yomura – President, Nissan Group of India said, “We are witnessing an encouraging growth in our sales. We ended FY-13 on a high and have begun the new financial year with a healthy 328% year-on-year growth for the month of April. Our focus is to continue this trend going forward.”

2014 season of the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy competition bagan last month giving Gran Turismo 6 virtual racers a platform to go from gamer to racer. PlayStation 3 now lets one and all enter free qualifying rounds within the game’s automatic online update. Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital, is excited to see qualifying begin across the globe for GT Academy 2014. “I am very happy that qualifying has now begun for a sixth season of GT Academy, kick starting our world-wide search to unearth another gamer with the talent to become a real life racer. Every GT6™ gamer will have the chance to develop their skills in a series of stunning Nissan NISMO vehicles and compare lap times with their friends while competing for a coveted spot at the next stage of the competition.”

Successful PlayStation gamers from India, Australia, Mexico, Middle East and Thailand win a place at a National Final event held in their country. Leading competitors then qualify for an International Race Camp at Silverstone Circuit during a week-long bootcamp where finalists will acquire on and off the track in Nissan’s quest to find this year’s GT Academy champion.

The International winner receives 3 months’ training to get on track at Dubai 24 Hour race in January 2015 to prove themselves worthy of becoming a NISMO Athlete.Last year’s GT Academy champions are competing in the Blancpain Endurance Series this season. Lucas Ordoñez (2008 champion) will race alongside Wolfgang Reip (2012 champion) in the Nissan ZEOD RC at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Jann Mardenborough (2011 champion) is vying for a Formula One shift having secured a GP3 drive in 2014 with Arden International./ He has also been selected to be part of a Red Bull Racing Driver Development Programme.
