Datsun Russia unveils mi-DO hatchback at Moscow Motor Show
After unveiling the on-DO sedan earlier this year, Nissan’s sub-brand Datsun has unveiled their second car today at the Moscow Motor Show. Named mi-DO, the new Datsun hatchback for Russia is set to go on sale by early 2015.
Based on the same platform as it’s sedan cousin, Datsun mi-DO has the same wheelbase of 2476 mm, same height of 1500 mm and same width of 1700 mm. Where length is concerned, unlike the on-DO sedan, which is 4337 mm long, the mi-DO hatchback is 3950 mm long.
Power comes from a 1.6l engine generating 87 hp while transmission options include five speed manual or a four speed automatic. To be offered with a three year / 75,000 kms warranty, Datsun mi-DO features airbags, ABS, ORVMs, heated seats, manual air-condition, rear wiper, and a 5 inch touchscreen for entertainment and music controls.
As of now Datsun has about 25 dealerships across Russia, which they plan to increase to 75 in two years. Speaking about its price, considering that the on-DO sedan will be priced at a starting price of 400,000 Roubles (or Rs 6.84 lakh), the mi-DO hatchback is expected to have a starting price of Roubles 290,000 (Rs 5 lakhs).
