AvtoVAZ will take care of production at their Tolyatti facility, along with the company’s own Lada cars, which Datsun entrants are derived from. Datsun on-Do sedan and mi-Do hatchback are based on Lada Granta and Kalina’s platform respectively.
Like in India Datsun has Go hatchback, Go sedan and Go+ MPV lined-up for consecutive launches, Russia should also get an MPV in Do series after on-Do sedan and mi-Do hatchback are launched.
Datsun mi-Do hatchback was recently spied confirming imminent launch. Both Datsun products are expected to share same engine; a 1.6 litre petrol mill pushing out 87 hp, mated to a 5 speed gearbox. However in base variants, the 1.4 litre petrol engine doing duty in Lada Kalina may be offered.
Nissan’s sub-brand has announced that price of on-Do sedan will not exceed 4,00,000 Rubles (Rs. 6.92 lakhs approx.); which suggests that mi-Do hatchback will be priced much lower, making the Do twins very affordable in Russian market, like the case of Go in India.
