Datsun Redi-Go AMT launched – Price Rs 3.8 lakh

Launched in June 2016, Datsun Redi-Go is the cheapest car on offer in India after the Tata Nano. As expected, the car soon became Nissan India’s best-selling car in the country, helping the brand register increase in sales for the first time in almost two years.

Riding on the wave, Datsun India launched the 1.0 liter variant of the Redi-Go in July last year. Until now, this variant was only offered with a manual transmission option. From today, it will be also offered with AMT.

Jerome Saigot, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Datsun redi-GO Smart Drive Auto combines the convenience and flexibility of dual-driving mode with best-in-class ground clearance, cabin space, boot space and head room. In line with our commitment towards our customers, we are launching the new redi-GO Smart Drive Auto at an attractive introductory price and rich features in its segment.”

Based on the Renault-Nissan alliance CMF-A platform, Datsun Redi-Go is the third and smallest Datsun car on offer. It shares parts, engine, components with Renault Kwid. Priced lower than the Renault Kwid, Datsun Redi-Go comes with a sporty styling. Datsun says that this is their Urban Cross, built to take on commuting challenges in Indian cities.

It is powered by the same 800 cc and 1 liter options which are also seen on the Kwid. The 0.8 liter petrol three cylinder engine delivers 54 PS and 72 Nm, while the 1 liter variant delivers 67 BHP and 91 Nm. Transmission is taken care by a 5 speed manual gearbox and mileage claimed stands at 25.17 kmpl for 800 cc, and 22.5 kmpl for 1 liter variant.

The car is available in five colours: Ruby Red, Lime Green, White, Grey and Silver. Features on offer include all black interiors, central locking system with remote key for convenience. ABS is not on offer. Driver airbag is offered as option.
