Did Datsun accidentally reveal Go price before launch?

Datsun India is getting ready to launch the new Go hatchback, their first car in India. To be launched later this month, they have already started accepting bookings for the same at their authorized dealerships for an advance payment of Rs 11,000.

Marketing activities are rife, especially on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. If you visit their official Facebook page, you will notice that in most of the comments, people are asking about the price of the car. All Datsun India has to say is that it will be priced significantly lower than Rs 3.99 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

According to that status, the price of Datsun Go, for the top end variant will be Rs 3.80 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi. Starting price was not mentioned. This price revealing update from Datsun Go was soon removed and cannot be seen now.

The new Datsun Go is being produced from Renault-Nissan company plant in Oragadam, Chennai. First unveiled to the world last year, Datsun Go was also seen at the 2014 Auto Expo. Datsun Go is an entry level car aimed at first time car buyers. It is based on the same platform as Nissan Micra but designed inside and out to display a larger and up market stance. The hatchback will compete with cars such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai i10. We recently had a chance to test drive Datsun Go and were very impressed with all it has to offer. There are no plans to export Datsun from India as on date with the models being locally produced in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa. Nissan Motors has also confirmed that they will be selling the Datsun Go and other models in the Datsun range on their own in India and not through country sales and service partners Hover Automobiles. Datsun Go launch is scheduled for 19th March 2014, and deliveries will begin by 15th March.
