Stepping up his performance, Sebastian Vettel managed to secure a win ahead of Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso who came in second and third respectively. With this win, he has set up a thrilling series of events for the world championship finale which is six races away. With this win Alonso is only 29 points ahead of Vettel who has amassed 165 points.

Vettel’s teammate Mark failed to shine on the circuit as he was caught up in a tussle with the safety cars which left him at 10th place and then at 11th due to an addition of a 20 seconds penalty. Kimi Raikkonen came in sixth and Romain Grosjean was seventh thereby propelling two of Renault’s cars into the top ten. The Williams F1 team was also at the back of the lot as their cars were marred with a series of problems ranging from hydraulic leaks and a probable KERS problem.

The Caterham F1 team saw their drivers coming in 15th and 19th almost two laps behind Vettel. This lack of performance was due to glitches involving the front left wheel nut. With the completion of this race, Redbull extended its point margin over McLaren by 7 points leaving Ferrari third with 245 points in its kitty.
