After the death of Paul Walker, in a real-life fatal car crash, the producers of the franchise, Universal Pictures had stopped production as they needed time to think about how to go forward. Even the starcast, who has been close to Paul Walker, were in no mood to return to shoot.

It is believed that at the time of Paul’s death, almost half of the shooting for FnF7 was completed. But, now, with Paul gone, they were contemplating whether to keep Paul’s scenes or to re-shoot with a new story, without Paul in the movie. They have also asked Paul’s brother, Cody to shoot remaining scenes as Paul’s character. But, nothing was stated officially. Finally, Universal has revealed that Paul will be part of the movie. Their official statement is as follows:

“Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of Fast and Furious 7, which will be released by Universal Pictures on April 10, 2015. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as producers.”
