Fast & Furious 7 was scheduled for release in July 2014, but production has been brought to a standstill following the tragic and untimely death of 40 year old Walker along with his friend Roger Rodas as their Porsche GT crashed into a pole and tree in Valencia, California.
Walker was mid way through the shooting and Paul’s younger brother Cody, 25, a stunt man by profession, has been asked to step in to complete the remaining scenes of the film. Producers have reached a consensus to retire rather than kill off the undercover cop and are modifying final scenes of the upcoming film accordingly.
In the weeks following the death of Walker, F&F Director, James Wan, Writer, Chris Morgan and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum have pondered over ways in which to deal with the fact that they will have to go on without Walker playing his leading role.
The decision to retire the star will require some additional scenes which will be shot with his nearly identical brother Cody stepping into his brother’s shoes. Cody will be shot from behind and at a distance as the final scenes of F&F7 see the much loved Brian O’Connor retire from the film. (source)
