John Lennon’s first car, a Ferrari, will be auctioned during the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car will be auctioned by Bonhams on 12th July. This is a special car. Not only because it is a Ferrari, but this car was favored over Aston Martin, Jaguar E Type and Maserati by the ‘The Beatles’ star.
Lennon and his mates at The Beatles, recorded “Ticket to Ride” in February 1965. In the same month, at the age of 25 years, Lennon made another headlines, when he received his driving license.
Sensing an opportunity to sell their car, dealers from Maserati, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Jaguar brought their best car’s to the mansion of the British singer/song writer. After a brief inspection, Lennon selected this light blue right hand drive 1965 Ferrari 330GT 2+2 Coupé.
Thus making it the first car in what eventually turned out to be an impressive lineup of luxury vehicles. The Beatles star paid £6,500 for his first car, an equivalent of £110,000 today. Analysts expect the car to go under the hammer for an approximate price range of £182,362 to £221,440 (INR 1.86 crores).
