Fiat Cross Punto Avventure to make global debut at Auto Expo
Italian car maker, Fiat is all set to put out an interesting line up of new models at the 2014 Auto Expo. A host of new vehicles are slated to be unveiled which will include the Punto Cross (Avventura), Abarth Punto, Linea facelift, Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler.
Fiat has released teaser image of the new Cross Punto (Avventura) which will be based on the Grande Punto hatchback. It was noted that this upcoming model sports bold cladding on its lower portion of bumpers and doors thus adding to its adventurous appeal. Its tail gate sports a spare wheel which sets it apart from the standard Grande Punto.
Though it sports a spare wheel, this is not taken into account when measuring length of the Avventura which will be just under four meters and will hence be liable for lesser excise duty. Engine updates on board the new Avventura will include Fiat’s 1.3 liter Multijet diesel engine with power output of 75 PS and 90 PS.
The new Punto Avventura has been designed at the Fiat Technical Center in Chennai with support from company headquarters in Italy. The upcoming model will have ground clearance to be increased to about 200 mm from the present 185 mm. Once launched, the Avventure will compete with Volkswagen Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross once launched.
