Update on 11-07-2016: FCA India’s misleading press release quoted the starting price of the Linea 125 S as INR 7.82 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company today issued an updated statement saying that it is actually the starting price of Linea petrol range (for the base 1.4L naturally aspirated FIRE engine). We have learnt through dealers that the Linea 125 S has an on-road price of around INR 11.5 lakhs (on-road, Delhi).

Original article dated 8-07-2016:

The Fiat Linea 125 S which was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year has been launched at a starting price of INR 7.82 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The most powerful petrol sedan in its class aims to attract some much-needed attention towards the neglected nameplate.

The Honda City rival is powered by a pumped up version of the 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine which is tuned to deliver 125 PS and 210 Nm of torque.

The sedan gets automatic wipers and headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, one-touch power windows and much more.

The same motor dishes out 114 PS on board the regular Linea and 145 PS and 140 PS under the hoods of the Abarth Punto and Abarth Avventura respectively. A 5-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels.

The Linea 125 S gets a special blue exterior color option, blacked out 16-inch multispoke alloy wheels, gloss finish for the front grille and ORVMs with integrated turn signals. Inside, enhancements come in the form of a new centre console that houses a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and several other additional features.

The centre console is revised to accommodate the new touchscreen infotainment system.

Equipment highlights include dual airbags (with dual-stage driver airbag), rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control, single-touch power windows, ambient lighting, rear sun visors and disc brakes on all the four wheels.
