Fiat Punto Abarth bookings now open – WhoAmI campaign launched

Fiat India first unveiled the Abarth Punto hot hatch at the launch of Abarth 595 Competizione, which took place at Buddh International Circuit on 4th August.

Based on the Fiat Punto hatchback, the Abarth Punto is going to be sold as an Abarth product, and not Fiat. Abarth is a Fiat owned company, which specialises in manufacturing performance products of Fiat cars.

This is the reason you will not find a single Fiat logo on the car, neither inside, nor outside. To familiarize customers with this, the company has launched a new campaign #WhoAmI – This campaign is aimed at improving brand visibility, and at the same time letting customers know that the more powerful Punto is going to be a Abarth product, and not Fiat.

The new Abarth Punto.

Compared to the top of the line 90 hp Punto which is currently on sale in India, the Abarth Punto will be powered by Fiat’s 1.4-liter turbojet motor which generates 145 BHP power and 200 Nm torque. Globally, the same motor is rated at 135 PS and 200 Nm, but seems like Fiat India engineers have made some tunings to make the engine even more powerful.

Cosmetically, Abarth Punto will be similar to look at. What will make it stand apart is the new colour schemes and sporty decals, along with the scorpion logo and the Abarth badge. It will also get new 16 inch alloys 195/55 rubber form Apollo Tyres. Suspension setup too is stiffened to take care of more power.

Features wise, most of the equipments will remain unchanged. Price of the new Abarth Punto is expected to be in the under INR 10 lakh category. At this price point, the newest Punto definitely makes it to the top of the list of buyers who want a petrol powered performance hatch.

Bookings of the Punto Abarth are now being accepted at all Fiat India dealerships at a payment of INR 50,000, towards the booking of the car. Launch is confirmed for October 2015.
