Fiat Punto Abarth might be launched in India at Rs 9 lakhs

Fiat is planning to launch the powerful Punto Abarth hatchback in Indian auto industry during the current year. Local production is also on the cards, which is what will make the Fiat Punto Abarth even more affordable. The new Punto Abarth will sport a 1.4 T-Jet turbo petrol engine which is also seen on the Fiat Linea which delivers approximately 165 bhp power.

Pricing is expected to be around Rs.9 lakhs, making it India’s first performance car at an affordable price. A stiffer chassis and upgraded suspension will go a long way in offering better handling while thicker anti roll bars and bigger brakes with all round discs will contribute to better drive.

Punto Abarth will be offered as a four door hatchback and will be on display at special Abarth Studios as part of the Fiat showroom itself thought the company is also contemplating separate Abarth showrooms altogether. Indian can now afford more luxurious vehicles and hence the industry is set to bring in more high performance luxury vehicles.  A diesel powered Abarth is what is most eagerly awaited which will definitely seem more attractive to Indian buyers.
