Fiat Punto facelift launch in June, Avventura in August 2014

Fiat Punto facelift for India is expected to bear a lot of resemblance to European version of Punto. Spy shots circulating on internet, suggest major restyling of front and rear of the car, especially in the bumper and head/tail lights.

On comparing the updates featuring on European Punto, new Linea and Avventura (showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo), we can speculate the cosmetic changes to feature on Punto fcelift:

Headlights, dashboard design and steering wheel to look similar to that of Avventura’s. Redesigned front bumper to accommodate headlight housing, with no extra lights. It will also featyre a two piece honeycomb mesh grille oriented horizontally.

Parking lights and turn indicators are relocated to new small horizontal housings beneath the headlights, on the sides of front grille partition. FIAT badge on the rear is placed at the centre of the tailgate. ‘PUNTO’ name is positioned beneath the Fiat badge with its letters bolded and spaced out, giving a sporty appeal.

Talking about Fiat’s new crossover based on new Fiat Punto facelift, Avventura sits on Punto’s platform carrying a rugged persona. Loaded with broader tyres, increased ground clearance, cladded lower body, two-tone exterior, projector headlamps, tailgate mounted spare wheel and the like, suggest that the Avventura is up for a big twist in the market. Interiors inspired from new Linea, features compass, clinometer and tilt-meter for off-roading enthusiasts.

Engine options in new Punto and Avventura, in all probability, may comprise of the same old 1.2-litre and 1.4 litre FIRE petrol engine along with Fiat’s best selling 1.3-litre diesel MultiJET engine.

On marketing and sales front, FIAT has been appointing increasing number of dealers and service centres to accommodate the new launches in June and August. With these new launches, Fiat India surely hopes to make 2014 a fruitful year for them.
