Finalists of 2014 Green Car of the Year include Audi A6 TDI, BMW 328d, Honda Accord, Mazda3, and Toyota Corolla

Five finalists of the 2014 Green Car of the Year have been announced. These include two diesel models, two petrol and 1 hybrid. Surprisingly, none of the finalists include the likes of Tesla Model S or BMW i3, but it is filled by everyday cars, such as the BMW 3 Series, Audi A6, Mazda3 (the only compact car in the list), Honda Accord, and Toyota Corolla.

The two diesel powered car’s in the list come from Germany. BMW is running in the list thanks to their 2.0l turbocharged mill delivering 180 hp and 280 lb-ft torque, on the other hand, Audi’s A6 is featuring a V6 3.0l delivering 240 hp power and 428 lb-ft torque. The former delivers a mileage of 45 mpg whereas the latter gives 38 mpg. We would also like to mention that the last time a diesel car won the award was back in 2009, Audi A3 TDI.

The petrol powered car’s in the list are Mazda3 and Toyota Corolla, delivering 41 mpg and 42 mpg respectively. The only hybrid car in the list, is the Hodna Accord. Available in gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid option, the new Accord plug-in delivers 115 mpge, while the hybrid Accord gives 47 mpg on highway and 50 mpg in city.
