The only Indian team in the formula one circuit bought by business tycoon Vijay Mallya has come a long way since it was first launched into the F1 racing world in the year 2008. There were many skeptics at that time but their number has dwindled to less than a few after the performances put up by the team drivers at international circuits.

The team has made it a long way from the back benches of the standings to a more comfortable sixth place standing this year as of now at the Constructors Championship. Though many have criticized Mallya for not having an Indian driver on his team, the way this team has performed in the past and present times showcases the philosophy and determination of Mallya to get Force India to the top by directing it in the right direction.

The team this year is looking for a higher finish level at the Airtel Indian Grand Prix after their display last year which gained them 68 points. Force India did have a marked improvement in regards to point finishes after switching from the Ferrari powered VJM01 car to Mercedes engines. This evening, the team will go into their first free practice session for the 2011 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix scheduled for 9th October.
