Force Motors to invest Rs 100 crores for new engine plant in TN
Pune based auto manufacturers, Force Motors has planned investment an amount of INR 100 crores for a new engine manufacturing and testing facility in Chengalpet, Tamil Nadu. It is from this new plant that the company will produce gearboxes and other aggregates for an international original equipment manufacturer, while they will also be assembling and testing passenger car engines at the facility.
The decision for the new facility at Anjur village in Tamil Nadu’s Kancheepuram district has been approved by the board on April 29, 2014, and will be funded through internal accruals. The completion of the plant is scheduled for January 2015 but is subject to receipt of regulatory clearances and other terms and conditions.
Force Motors already has two existing plants in India, one in Pune from where the company manufacturers small commercial vehicles and tractors and the other in Pithampur, MP from where SUVs, MUVs and other commercial vehicles are produced. From the new plant, Force Motors will produce engines for BMW, reveals Autocar Professional.
Force Motors manufactures a range of vehicles which include small and light commercial vehicles, MUVs, SUVs and heavy commercial vehicles besides agricultural tractors. Their range of personal vehicles include Force One SUV and Force SUV Gurkha while commercial vehicles include Force Trax, Force Traveller and Force Trump 40. For the agricultural sector, Force Motors produces Balwan Tractor and Orchard Tractor.
