Ford 500,000th 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine
At the at Kentucky Truck Plant this week, the 500,000th 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine was installed on a 2014 Ford Super Duty F-350 Lariat. Introduced in 2011, it delivers 400 hp at 2,800 rpm, and 800 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm.
It enables upto 24,700 pounds towing capability for F-450 pickup and up to 26,600 pounds for F-550 chassis cab. The compacted graphite iron engine is stronger than cast iron. A block structure makes way for reduced weight and maximum strength. Advanced inboard exhaust and outboard intake architecture reduces overall exhaust system volume, bettering throttle and turbo response.
Reduced exhaust system surface area minimizes heat transfer to the engine compartment and betters NVH alongside a center-mounted turbocharger . Downtime reduction is assured because engine architecture faciliates easier service work for major engine components. Up to B20 biodiesel compatibility makes way for green fueling options
