Upon launch, Ford EcoSport is most likely to be priced competitively amongst the three stalwarts. Replete with an aerodynamic design, LED headlamps and fog lamps while interiors are roomy and done up in grey and beige trimmings. Features include power windows, remote operated doors, foldable rear seats, advanced music system and cooled glove box among a host of others. Engine options include a 1.0 turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine offering 120 PS and 160 Nm torque while its diesel counterpart is a 1.5 liter TDCi Turbo engine offering 80 PS and 160 Nm torque. The Ford EcoSport engines are mated to either a 5 speed gearbox or a 6 speed powershift automatic gearbox while fuel efficiency is pegged at 16 kmpl.
Mahindra XUV500 was a crowd puller when it was first launched. Priced between Rs.11 lakhs for the base model and Rs.14 lakhs for the top end variant, XUV500 offers three comfortable rows of seating way above what the other contenders are offering. Interiors are done up in two toned color schemes while lounge lighting, a special storage compartment for laptop, voice activated control centre, navigation system and music via iPod compatibility are additional features. Engine details include an mHawk 140 engine which has maximum power at 140 bhp while peak torque is at 330 Nm. The XUV 500 has a top speed of 175 kmph and offers economical mileage of 11.5 kmpl in city limits while this goes up to 15.1 kmpl on the highway.
Renault Duster is compact in looks and most competitively prices of all the three SUVs. It comes in with a base price of Rs.7.49 lakhs while this goes all the way up to Rs.11.69 lakhs for the top end variant. Interiors are seen in striking shades of black while it offers seating for upto 5 adults. Renault Duster offers 8 way adjustable driver seating, foldable front passenger seats. Features include power steering, power windows, AC with climate controls and Bluetooth enabled music system. It possesses a 1.5 liter dCi diesel engine offering top power of 110 bhp and max torque of 240 Nm. Its petrol engine is a 1598cc DOHC engine offering 105 bhp power and 148 Nm torque with fuel consumption at between 13-20 kmpl and a top speed of 164 kmph.
