Ford EcoSport SUV for Europe will be made in India
At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Ford Europe’s Stephen Odell confirmed to Reuters that the Made in India EcoSport will be imported by European countries, once the SUV is launched by the end of this year.
Ford EcoSport is expected to bring a boost in sales, thanks to its compact nature and affordable price. Vehicle sales all across Europe have been on the downslide following severe economic constraints. At such a time, the launch of EcoSport might help Ford to boost their sales in Europe.
Ford has set a target to sell 1 million SUVs all across Europe in the coming five years. They will also expand their SUV line-up within the next 5 years in Europe. Ford EcoSport will compete with the likes of Nissan Juke, and yet to be launched Peugeot 3008 and Renault Captur.
Ford also debuted their Tourneo Courier van at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and plan to deliver 15 such vehicles to Europe by 2015. Sales of Ford have seen a drop by 22% in 19 European countries. The company has also lost its market share in a host of markets which also includes the UK.
