Demand for SUV’s with larger number of seats is on the rise, this is evident from the success of Mahindra Quanto, which was launched late in 2012 with a price of Rs 5.82 lakhs. Quanto received over 12,000 bookings within two months of its launch. Ford EcoSport too will manage to take a big bite off the segment, if they manage to accommodate the two jump seats in the back.
Apart from this, Ford India is getting ready to launch the EcoSport SUV in India. They have promised to launch the EcoSport in early 2013, and the time is here. Any further delay, might result in buyers who have waited for EcoSport, to shift to buying other brands. Ford EcoSport is expected to be priced between Rs 7 lakhs to Rs 11 lakhs in India. They might also go down to Rs 6.5 lakhs if features like ABS, power windows, allos, fog lights, chrome fittings, etc are not offered.
Unveiled at the 2012 Delihi Auto Expo as a concept, the company has promised that the production model will resemble its concept in a number of ways. It will possess a trapezoidal grille giving the five door SUV a more aggressive stance. Headlights will be smaller in proportion while its roof design given ample headroom in the interiors. Wheel arches and spare wheel at the rear give the vehicle more character as the company confirms that this SUV is being designed to suit the requirements of enthusiastic adventurers.
Ford EcoSport will have a 1.0 liter three cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine with is expected to deliver a higher level of fuel efficiency while it will also sport a 1.5 liter diesel engine, the one that features in Ford Classis. To be available in bright colors of Savannah Orange, Bright Yellow and Sea Gray the EcoSport is eagerly awaited to bring sunshine into the lives of Indian audience.
