Ford EcoSport to deliver mileage of 17 kmpl in India

Ford EcoSport is expected to be one of the most significant launches scheduled for early 2013. The company will be rolling out this much anticipated SUV from their plant in Maraimalainagar, Chennai. It is a sub four meter SUV which is already on sale in Brazil and pricing is competitive which will make it a keen competitor to the recently launched Renault Duster. Ford EcoSport is currently under final phase of testing. A source, on the condition of anonymity has revealed that the EcoSport with 1.0L generating 125 hp, will deliver a mileage of 17 kmpl.

The SUV has been spotted while on test in and around Chennai while final touches and last minute details are being looked into. Bits of information about the Ford EcoSport have been popping up now and again at the company website while the pricing is a closely guarded secret which will be revealed closer to launch date.

Ford India reported a surge in sales during the month of October 2012. Sales during the month touched 10,948 units as against 10,906 units in October 2011. The soon to be launched EcoSport is slated to be a volume puller which will compete against Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto in the Indian auto industry.
