The Delhi Auto Show 2012 saw the EcoSport compact SUV being showcased. According to Ford, EcoSport will be offered in over a hundred markets around the world. EcoSport is smaller than the 2013 Ford Escape and more similar to Nissan Juke.
Ford is concentrating on offering smaller and highly fuel efficient vehicles to help in achieving average fuel standards by 2015. The EcoSport compact SUV displayed at the 2012 Delhi Auto Show will be a 3 cylinder1.0 liter EcoBoost engine. It will house the smallest direct injected and turbocharged engine.
The US EcoSport will have four cylinder option while three cylinder EcoBoost engine will be offered in India. Visitors to the Ford pavilion can virtually get to drive the EcoSport by leaning to left or right in front of a motion sensing camera.
Ford EcoSport will be manufactured at Ford's Chennai Plant. However, further details of car technical specs and availability of the vehicle are not yet revealed. One will have to wait for further details which will be announced in due course, most likely in the latter half of the year. In the meantime, the next few days will give visitors tot he Delhi Auto Expo a chance to to thoroughly absorb the innovative features and interesting aspects of Ford EcoSport compact SUV.
