Ford Fiesta ST hot hatch – 2016 Geneva Motor Show LIVE

Ford Fiesta ST is available in a choice of 10 petrol and 6 diesel engine. Right from 1.0 L Duratec Ti-VCT 80 PS to 1.6 L EcoBoost Ti-VCT 199 PS in petrol and 1.4 L Duratorq TDCi 68 PS to 1.6 L Duratorq TDCi ECOnetic 95 PS in diesel.

The on on display in Geneva is with 199 PS and 214 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. The turbocharged motor and sport-tuned suspension makes the hatchback a dynamic driving delight. A direct-injected 1.6-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine powers the small car. It’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

It takes the Ford Fiesta ST less than seven seconds to go from 0-62 mph. Handling gets a boost through lowered suspension, stiff springs and dampers, and rear torsion beam. Larger tyres help maintain car dynamics alongwith a quicker electric power assist steering system.

While driving dynamics impresses, Ford Fiesta ST exterior sporty design isn’t trying too hard to do the same. On the inside, Fiesta features remain largely similar. To support it’s driving prowess, Ford Fiesta ST can be fitted with Recaro seats for improved lateral support.

Regular Ford offerings include SYNC, MyFord Touch infotainment system, bluetooth-based connectivity system so smartphone users can use voice commands or steering wheel-mounted buttons. Texts messages can be read, and Ford-approved apps can be used. MyFord Touch uses a centre mounted 6.5-inch touchscreen and touch-sensitive controls in it.

Ford Fiesta ST standard fitment include climate control, power windows, Sony AM/FM/CD stereo system with AUX input, remote keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a perimeter alarm.

Apart from Recaro seats, other Ford Fiesta ST options include a navigation system, sunroof and heating function. Safety gets a boost with a driver knee airbag, dual-stage front airbags, curtain airbags and side airbags. Seven in all.
Traction and stability control systems and a tyre pressure monitoring system are in use. Ford Fiesta ST’s torque vectoring system brake on rear inside wheel helps beat understeer.
