Ford Figo Aspire engine options count to three and transmission two?

List of Ford Figo Aspire engine options is expected to include a 1.2 litre petrol, 1.5 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel motors.

Ford Figo twins are expected to constitute over 60 percent of Ford India’s domestic sales.

Since Ford India has relatively less models to offer in the highly demanding market, it is making its mission to make the best out of new models in the pipeline. As Indian customers are conscious about power as much as they are about mileage, Ford is said to introduce multiple engine options for the new Figo, that count to three, from economy to performance.

The 1.2 litre Sigma petrol that powered the outgoing Ford Figo hatchback, is believed to be revised to equip a four-valve head housing twin camshafts with variable valve timing, to produce peak power of around 80 bhp (a boost of 10 bhp). Yet, the engine is expected to deliver heartwarming fuel economy.

The larger 1.5 litre Sigma petrol engine from Ford EcoSport and Fiesta, is expected to be offered in higher variants of Figo Aspire, in the same 109 bhp tune, mated to (automatic) 6-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).

Manual variants of Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan will use 5-speed transmissions.

As for the diesel variant, the much acclaimed 1.5 litre DV5 mill doing duty in Ford EcoSport, would be used, reportedly with a slight bump in power and torque. It is also believed that Ford Figo Aspire would receive this engine in higher, 100 bhp tune, while the Figo hatchback model would enjoy only 89 bhp. Better mileage than what the engine is known to deliver is also the belief.

The anticipated 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine is said to have been ruled out in next gen Ford Figo for India, due to high cost involved for its injection system and turbocharger. Reason for not using Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) is gathered to be Ford India’s intention to offer a better experience, more like a premium package, with the seamless dual clutch gearbox.
