Ford Figo Aspire has just landed right in the middle of an intense compact sedan battle. With the segment growing at an impressive pace, the new launch is expected to help Ford India’s bottom line considerably.

Here is how the Ford’s latest compares with rivals Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, and Honda Amaze on paper.

Given that all these cars strictly adhere to the sub-4m rule, dimensions are pretty much identical. In terms of length, all the cars mentioned here measure 3,995 mm save for Honda Amaze which is 5 mm shorter.

At 2,491 mm, Figo Aspire has the longest wheelbase in its class, followed by Swift Dzire at 2,430 mm, Xcent at 2,425 mm and Amaze at 2,405 mm. The Ford sedan also features the highest ground clearance in its class at 174 mm. Dzire comes in second with a GC of 170 while Xcent and Amaze have an identical figure of 165 mm.

The compact sedans are powered by diesel engines of varying displacements. Figo Aspire and Amaze have the largest engines in the segment at 1.5-litre whereas Dzire is propelled by the familiar 1.3-litre unit. Xcent makes do with a 1.1-litre oil burner.

All the cars are mated to standard 5-speed manual gearboxes and there are no automatic choices (Tata Zest which is not featured in this comparo offers a 5-speed AMT with its 90 PS diesel engine).

At 100 PS, both Aspire and Amaze lead the power game. Dzire is good enough for 75 PS, and Xcent brings the tail with an output of 73 PS. Coming to the torque output, Aspire emerges on top at 215 Nm, followed by Amaze at 200 Nm, Dzire at 190 Nm and Xcent at 180 Nm.
